Camping is a great experience for toddlers and allows them to be outdoors a lot on a family holiday. The weather in Ireland can be precarious but if the forecast is good there’s no reason not to take a camping trip. here are some of the best campsites for toddler in Kerry.
Mannix Point, Caherciveen
Mannix Point Camping Park fronts on to a half kilometre of coastline near Cahirciveen and is surrounded by the mountains of the Iveragh Peninsula offering stunning views. Fossa, Camping and Caravan Park
Fossa Camping and Caravan Park is a well-established site run by the Brosnan Family is a favourite with families. The site is set in a beautiful wooded area in the village of Fossa and overlooks the famous MacGillycuddy Reeks. It is a five minutes’ walk to Lough Leane. This holiday park is supplied with electric hook-up and offers a separate area for tents. There are also excellent modern sanitation blocks an onsite drying room facility and a play area for kids.
Wave Crest Campsite, Derrynane
Facilities here include a play area and a deli selling everything from homemade cakes to foods for barbecuing but the big draw is the fact that it’s right on the water. Views stretch over Kenmare Bay and dolphins have been seen offshore. Pitches cost €27 for a unit with two adults and two children. Woodlands, Tralee
Woodlands Camping & Caravan Park is situated next door to the Aquadome in Tralee (above) The 100-pitch site itself is in a quiet parkland setting, roughly a ten minute walk to the town centre. The site is accessed over a bridge built by the owners, and also stands next door to Aqua Golf, an 18-hole themed mini-golf course. The price for a unit for two adults and two children start at €24 per night. A 7-night deal, including camping for a family of six and unlimited access to the Aqua Dome and Aqua Golf, costs €390.
Dromquinna, Near Kenmare (Glamping)
The custom made tents were designed specifically for Dromquinna Manor by safari tent experts in India and are the last word in luxury. Each tent has its own veranda and deck area and is fully furnished like a luxury hotel bedroom. Surrounded by the natural habitat of hardwood trees and indigenous shrubs and overlooking the lake, Dromquinna is an unforgettable experience.
