Parent Review – Rugen Island, Germany

Sarah, mother to Anna and Sophie reviews Rugen Island on the Baltic Sea, Germany for parents travelling with babies and toddlers.

Where did you go?

Rügen Island. It is a German holiday destination on the Baltic Sea.

When did you go?

We travelled there in September 2015 and stayed for one week.

Who did you travel with?

I travelled with my husband Chris, and our two daughters.

How old were your kids when you travelled?

Anna was 4 years old and Sophie 3 years old.

Where did you stay?

Precise Resort Rügen – The Hotel & Therme

How was the journey there?

We took our car and drove to the Hotel. In total it took us 5 hours to drive there.

What was the food like at your destination?

We booked half board for this holiday so the breakfast and dinner were included. The food served in this hotel was delicious; the breakfast buffet had a great choice both for children and adults. The dinner was also a buffet style, but the food was of top quality. The children found it great to be able to walk around and pick out what they wanted to eat. For the price paid you really did get great value for your money.

Were you able to find all your baby and toddler essentials at your destination (formula, food, wipes, nappies, medication etc)?

Yes everything that a person needed was attainable in the local shops and supermarkets.

How was the public transport system?

As we had our car we did not avail of the public transport. The island has a bus system that is regular and also as great cycle paths which are well marked.

Did you use a baby carrier or a stroller?

We bought a foldable stroller just in case one of the girls got tired, but we hardly used it.

What kind of activities did you do?

In the resort there was a great swimming pool with slides and a special kids section. There were also four different play parks for children, lovely walk ways around the resort and also a horse farm where you could go riding. In the hotel, there was a really big indoor playroom for kids and the hotel offered different activities every day for the children. Outside of the Hotel we explored the island, we visited a lovely harbour town and explored the cliffs and coves around the Island.

Overall, did you have a good trip?

Yes the trip was very enjoyable.

Do you have any advice for parents travelling to the same place?

Not really as everything we needed was there.
