Lake Garda has picturesque villages scattered around it which you can easily travel between. It is the perfect area to explore, take walks and eat delicious Italian food.
Themeparks & Waterparks
There are a number of toddler friendly activities such as Gardaland, a Disney-style theme park which has a few attractions for older toddlers. There is also a Sea Life Aquarium within Gardaland which is a better spot for older babies and toddlers.
There are also waterparks around the lake such as Water Park Cavour which has a rocky island, a moated castle where the little ones can play in the sand, various water slides for more adventurous kids and other water games. Aqua Paradise Park is more for older kids and adults but has some smaller features suitable for toddlers. Riovalli Aquasplash is a large swimming pool, great for families with a number of slides.
Boat Trips on Lake Garda
You can also take a boat trip around the lake which toddlers will enjoy and if you are not rent a car you could travel around to see some of the Lakes towns this way. Another option would be to rent a boat for a few hours from one of the many rental agencies around the lake.
Beaches on Lake Garda
There are beaches around the lake however most of them have shingle and this can be uncomfortable for little feet so be sure to bring beach shoes. The beach near Lazise is a man made sandy beach and may be more comfortable. Lazise also has a play park.
Parks and Zoos on Lake Garda
There is no shortage of parks around Lake Garda and there is also a zoo and a safari park.
Isola del Garda is the largest island in Lake Garda and has a stunning villa and beautiful gardens. the gardens were recently opened to the public.
Parco Giardino Sigurta has huge, stunning gardens and is situated just 5 miles south of Peschiera. The park is almost 400 years old and covers an area of 560,000 square meters.It has a huge variety of plantlife, including more than 40,000 bushes, ponds with tropical fish, herb garden, and a great lawn.
Hruska Gardone Riveria is a small but stunning botanical garden set on a terraced hillside in Gardone.
Riva is the second largest town on Lake Garda and has some lovely public gardens going right down to the beach to the East of the town.
Parco Natura Viva is located at Pastrengo, a couple of miles east of Lazise, this massive 40 hectare park has much to offer. It is divided into a number of sections including:
- The Parco Faunistico (Fauna park) – This conservation park has around 200 animals from all over the world and a number of rare plants in danger of becoming extinct. There is a dinosaur park located in the Fauna park and has life sized models of lots of dinosaurs. Perfect for older toddlers!
- The Safari park can only be visited in a car or bus. A route winds you through a large area where kids can spot a wide variety of animals.
- The Botanical garden has a wide variety of plants, from local ones to tropical plants kept in the greenhouse.
Reptiland in Riva del Garda has snakes, scorpions, spiders, curious insects and butterflies.
