Ibiza with a Baby or Toddler

Ibiza is a truly fantastic destination for family holidays. From its beaches to aquariums and stalactite caves, you will find no shortage of fun and exciting things for children of all ages to do during your holiday.

As well as a plethora of beaches where children can play and swim safely – play parks and play areas can be found in most resorts, which boast trampolines, climbing frames, bouncy castles, carousels, slides and plenty of space for the little ones to run around in a safe, enclosed environment.

Ibiza Old Town is a UNESCO world heritage site and is definitely worth a visit. The ramparts are also worth seeing and you can walk the entire perimeter of these Renaissance-era walls, designed to withstand heavy artillery, and enjoy great views along the way. A ramp leads from Plaça de Sa Font in Sa Penya up to the Portal de ses Taules, the main entrance.

San Antonio is probably the liveliest part of the island, famous for its nightclubs and late night drinking however there are some family friendly beaches and hotels in the area. Calo des Moro beach is located near Sunset Strip and is small and child friendly. It has plenty of shops and cafes close by selling everything you need. The Aquarium Cap Blanc in San Antonio is also a wonderful place for older babies and toddlers to enjoy. It is designed in a natural cave, and you can see local fish including grouper fish, lobsters, moray, conger, rays, yellowtail fish and dorados.  It is situated close to the beach of Cala Gració and has wonderful views over the bay of San Antonio and its sunsets.

Aguamar Water Park is a good option for babies and toddlers as there are shallow pools there also. It is situated near the beach of Playa d’en Bossa and there are various water skating rinks, large swimming pools, a playground, relaxation zones and a restaurant. In short, a paradise for the kid. Ocean Mania Water Park in San Antonio is worth visiting. The waterpark is in the sea with inflatable slides. The park is more suitable for older kids however and kids must be over a metre tall to be able to avail of the attractions.

A great place where to spend your day is at Minibiza, located in a country club near Ibiza town. It has a great garden, colourful interiors and loads of activities for kids. Acrobosc is another great option and is set in between green pine trees challenging both young and old. Two circuits to follow, thirty-nine platforms, 43 obstacles and 16 zip lines guarantee hours of fun. Again this is more suited to older kids so if you are unsure about whether your child can use the amenities it is best to phone or email in advance.

Port de Torrent is a short boat ride or 5 km drive from San Antonio and offers a calmer, quieter pace of life. This is a great base if you want to partake in some of the activities available in San Antonio but don’t want to stay right in the middle of the busy town. A trip to Formentera Island is a great option for families. You can take one of the regular ferries which depart from Ibiza Town (Aquabus) most resorts during the summer months to the island, then hire one of the environmentally-friendly electric vehicles to explore the picturesque and unspoiled countryside and beaches. Ulises Cat Boat excursions are another option. These are glass bottomed boat tours departing from Figueretas and Playa d’en Bossa regularly which will take you to Formentera or Es Vedra. The glass bottom boat will keep toddlers and older babies enthralled for much of the trip.
