There are a wide variety of activities which will appeal to young travellers and the city is stroller friendly.
The Kuala Lumpur Aquarium is located in the convention centre next to the Petronas Towers. It has some fantastic exhibits including a 90 metre tunnel containing sharks, turtles and sting ray. There is also a pool where kids can touch the fish and sea life (RM 50 for adults, RM 40 for 3 -12 year olds and under 3s are free). The Petrosains Discovery Centre is a science museum with hands on educational exhibitions that kids can interact with. This is based at the base of the Petronas Tower on the 4th Flr of the Sunia Shopping Centre (Adults RM25, 3-12 year olds RM15 and under 3s are free).
Kidzania is an indoor education and entertainment centre which allows kids to take part in role plays such as pretending to be a fireman or a cashier. They are also given bank cards which they can earn money on for doing jobs and they can then go and spend the money (RM 38 for adults and 2 – 3 year olds, RM 75 for 4 – 7 year olds, discounts available for online booking). Berjaya Times Square is one of the biggest malls in the world and there is also a hotel above it which is an ideal, baby friendly base while you are in Kuala Lumpur. There are great food outlets here and it is very buggy friendly with ample baby changing facilities.
Lake Gardens has a bird park and Butterfly Park which might appeal to younger travellers and it is also worth checking out and Chinatown and Little India where you can sample Chinese and Indian cuisine and partake in more unusual shopping experiences.
