Koh Samui
Koh Samui, on the east coast is a popular beach destination and can be reached by air, train and ferry from Bangkok. The best beaches are located on the North side of the island. Chaweng is the main tourist town and if you are looking for restaurants and bars this is the best spot to stay in. The Centara Grand Beach Resort is a great base if you want to be near the town and caters well to babies and young children. The Chaweng Cove Beach Resotel also caters to families. There are many hotels away from the hustle and bustle of Chaweng around Koh Samui which will cater to families with babies and toddlers also. The Four Seasons Koh Samui is located in a quieter part of the island and offers a more peaceful and relaxing holiday away from the bars and restaurants. The Anantara Resort and Spa is a short walk from Bophut town and is a perfect place to take young children as the town is a fishing village and less busy than Chaweng. You can fly to Koh Samui from Bangkok in just over an hour and there are plenty of flights each day.
Krabi
Krabi town is located on the South West Coast of Thailand and can be accessed from Bangkok by train and bus. There are many stunning beaches in and around Krabi town and there are also many points of interest in the area such as the Tiger Cave Temple and the Koh Phenom Bencha National Park. There are many baby, toddler and child friendly hotels located in and around Krabi town such as the Tolmaj Family Apartments or the Ao Nang Orchid Resort. You can fly from Bangkok to Krabi in 1 hour and 20 minutes or you can take a rail and bus combination. Internal flights are reasonable priced and would be much easier with a baby.
Phuket
Phuket is another option for people travelling with babies and young children. You can fly to Phuket from Bangkok in 1 hour and 25 minutes with Thai Airways or Air Asia or you can go by boat from Krabi. The Centara Karon Resort caters to families with young children. Internal flights are generally quite cheap in Thailand and it will save you from a long bus and train journey followed by a boat trip with your infant. Phuket Baby Rentals offers a wide range of baby equipment for rent which can be delivered to your hotel or apartment within 24 hours so if you decide to stay somewhere which isn’t particularly baby friendly you still have the option of getting all the necessary equipment that you will need during your stay including strollers, high chairs, car seats, potties, safety gates, cots and activity mats.
Koh Phi Phi
Koh Phi Phi is the jumping off point for visiting Maya Island made famous by the film The Beach starring Leonardo Di Caprio. This stunning island is surrounded by turquoise waters and is a must for many visitors to Thailand. Hotels in Koh Phi Phi cater to families and ensure that if you are taking a trip to Maya Island that you take a tour that will take you right up to the beach as you don’t want to be swimming to shore with your baby in tow! The Holiday Inn Resort Koh Phi Phi offers stunning views and is set in a quieter location on the island. Phi Phi Island Cabana Hotel is closer to the main town which has many shops, bars and restaurants.
Koh Lanta
Koh Lanta is an island located on the South West coast of Thailand and is a lovely alternative to the busier touristic islands. The island boasts many family friendly hotels and is a great choice for people with babies. It is a quiet place but has many places to walk and the beaches are stunning. On the Southern end of the island there are many small bars and restaurants with spectacular views and there is often live music playing in the beach bars. Koh Lanta can be accessed by boat from Phuket and Koh Phi Phi or by plane and then bus or taxi from the mainland (it is connected by bridge). The Baan Kan Tiang is one of many hotels recommended by Tripadvisor for people with young children. The Phra Nang Lanta Resort is also a wonderful option for people with babies. The beach is right in front of the hotel, there’s plenty of shade around the pool and the staff are friendly. You can rent a car for a day on the island directly from your hotel and visit the little towns and beaches dotted around the island.
