Majorca

Majorca (Mallorca) is one of Europe’s favourite family Holiday destinations

Flight time from Ireland and the UK is between 2.5 and 3 hours making it an ideal destination for families with babies and younger kids.

The island has some fantastic family friendly accommodation and there are plenty of baby and toddler friendly activities and restaurants. Formula, baby food and nappies are also widely available however, they are generally imported so cost more than they would at home.

The most popular beach resorts include Alcudia, Magaluf and Santa Ponsa. Magaluf and Santa Ponsa are family friendly however, they can be busy and there are a lot of bars and nightclubs. For families, Alcudia or some of the quieter resorts such as S’Illot, Cala D’Or or Puerto de Soller can be more enjoyable and relaxing. The northwest coast, surrounded by the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range is a stunning region of olive groves, pine forests and a beautifully rugged coastline and is also worth visiting for a more relaxed family vacation.

When to Go

Summertime in the island tends to be hot and dry, while winters are mild and pleasant. The island is large and filled with mountains and has roughly 300 days of sunshine. If possible, try to travel outside of the peak summer months in May or September. This is the ideal time to visit with a baby or toddler as the weather will be slightly cooler, prices will be lower and the beaches and attractions will not be as crowded.
