Costa Dorada (The Coastline Around Barcelona)

The Costa Dorada (Golden Coast) is an extremely popular holiday destination for families with young children and there are loads of family friendly hotels with kids clubs for children of all ages, kids activities, pools and play areas…

The Costa Dorada is the coastline close to Barcelona. If you choose to holiday here, you can visit Barcelona and enjoy the large amusement parks, aquariums and zoos located in and around the city. Catalonian is the dominant culture within the region and you can expect a fantastic mix of traditional Catalonian culture and food with modern amenities and architecture.

The combination of golden sandy beaches and mountain scenery along with the potential to explore Barcelona makes it the perfect holiday destination.

Salou is a very popular resort with travellers from the UK and Ireland thanks to its blue flag beach and beachfront fair ground. It is just seven miles south of elegant Tarragona, home to ancient Roman ruins. The compact resort town is a family favourite, due in no small part to the existence of Portaventura and Aquapolis theme parks nearby. There are a variety of restaurants and bars within the area also.

There are also some quieter resorts such as Cambrils, a pretty Catalan fishing town with 9 km of white sandy beach and La Pineda with a water park and dolphin show, both of which are ideal for families. To see more of the area, or for daytrips to Tarragona and Barcelona, it’s easiest to rent a car.

If you are flying from further afield, Barcelona airport welcomes a huge number of international flights each day.
