Family Holidays in Lanzarote With Babies, Toddlers and Kids Under 4

Lanzarote was one of Europe’s first mainstream family holiday destinations and it is not difficult to see why with its long stretches of sandy beaches and warm weather. You can visit the island all year round however, it can get quite hot during the summer months with temperatures reaching 30 degrees or higher. During the winter, Lanzarote has temperatures of between 19 and 22 degrees, although it can get hotter than this, particularly at mid-day.

Flight time to Lanzarote from the UK and Ireland is approximately four and a half hours. This can be tricky with an active toddler so make sure you bring plenty of distractions and snacks for the plane.

The island is ideal for families given the warm weather all year round and endless list of hotels (See ‘Where to Stay’), restaurants and activities (See ‘Top Attractions’) suitable for parents with babies, toddlers and younger children. You will be able to find most of your baby and toddler essentials on the island such as nappies and wipes and there are many brands of food and formula which are similar to those in the UK and Ireland (See Baby & Toddler Essentials).

Puerto Del Carmen and Playa Blanca are great for families. Puerto Del Carmen’s gorgeous three kilometre sandy beach makes it the island’s most popular resort.  There are many family and baby friendly hotels here although this area is quite busy and it is known for its nightlife. Playa Blanca is a former fishing village which now centres around the buzzing Marina Rubicon full of restaurants and bars. Costa Teguise is famous for its pale sandy beach, 18 hole golf course and relaxing atmosphere.  Playa de Los Pocillos is a fantastic resort for family holidays with kids under 4 and has a calm and relaxing atmosphere.
