County Galway is located on the West Coast of Ireland and is a hugely popular destination for tourists from Ireland and abroad.
Galway city is a thriving musical city filled with street entertainment, fantastic eateries and parks. During the run up to Christmas, it has a superb Christmas Market in Eyre Square which toddlers will love!
Connemara in County Galway offers some of the most rugged and breath-taking landscapes you will ever visit and a trip to the county will not disappoint as there is something for everyone. The lakes and mountains of Connemara offer some fantastic views and there are many activities which you can take part in here also such as horse riding, visiting pet farms and taking long walks.
Another option is to take a boat or plane to the Aran Islands just off the coast of Galway to visit the incredible Dun Aonghasa fort perched on the edge of the cliffs (you may need a sling or harness for this!) and experience the wild and barren landscape, known to be one of the most beautiful in the world.
The seafood in the area is a must try also and there has been a recent surge of gourmet restaurants opening in the province offering some delicious locally sourced foods. You will be able to find loads of baby and toddler friendly restaurants in Galway city itself such as Milano’s Galway, located on Middle Street, Pascal’s Coffeehouse on William Street.
There are plenty of toddler friendly activities in this region such as petting zoos, parks, indoor and outdoor activity centres, beaches and aquariums. Restaurants will generally have high chairs, kids menus and will offer to make up a baby bowl for little ones. Where there are no specific changing facilities in restaurants and pubs, someone will usually point you towards a quiet area that you can change nappies in. There are also some fantastic baby and toddler friendly hotels in the area also.
