Bordeaux and Aquitaine With a Baby, Toddler or Young Child.

Aquitaine is an extensive region of south-west France with a long coastline along the Atlantic Ocean (Bay of Biscay) and a mountainous border with Spain along the Pyrenees Mountains. The region is very family friendly and you will be able to find all of your baby and toddlers essentials along with hotels and restaurants which cater well to young children. This area is perfect for a low key family holiday and there are plenty of self catering apartments and houses equipped with cots. There are also some charming farm accomodation options which cater well to young children.

If you really want to see the area you will need a car. There are so many places to explore and you will be able to take some fantastic day trips whereever you base yourself. The French part of Basque Country lies at the southwest end of Aquitaine. The various regions of Aquitaine include Dordogne,  Gironde,  Landes, Lot-et-Garonne and Pyrénées-Atlantiques and the best known cities include Agen, Bayonne, Bordeaux (the capital), Mont-De-Marsan, Pau and Périgueux. St Emilion is another well known town in the region famous for its cobblestone streets, picturesque squares and wine production. Close to the Spanish border are Biarritz and St Jean de Luz, beach towns which are well loved by families.
