Chiang Mai is a small city by Asian standards and is nestled in the mountains of Northern Thailand. It is a fantastic place for families as it is very walkable and has loads of restaurants and cafes and outdoor night markets.
4 or 5 star hotels are reasonably priced here and these will cater well to those travelling with babies and toddlers. Most hotels will offer cots and high chairs in restaurants and will also provide you with information on where to buy your essentials. The restaurants in Chiang Mai are excellent but few will offer high chairs for kids and a fold away high chair is a useful gadget to have.
There are plenty of activities that will appeal to younger kids in Chiang Mai such as a visit to the zoo or the elephant and tiger sanctuaries around the city. Most hotels will also have outdoor swimming pools.
The people in Chiang Mai are very friendly and will be very interested in your child. All the attention will keep them entertained and will help start a few interesting conversations with the locals.
